Peggy's 60th Birthday!

Mom's 60th Birthday was this past Friday (June 19th). We celebrated at the house in Houston with a big SURPRISE party. Food was catered by Mandola's in Austin (thank you Jeremy) and there was a great turnout. 50 of Mom's nearest and dearest joined in on the celebration, including Vonda and her sister Laurie from the Chicago!

We laughed, cried and imbibed until the wee hours of Saturday morning.

Happy Birthday Momma, we love you!

My first ACL Taping! - Susan

Last night I spent the evening at the KLRU studios on the University of Texas campus for a live taping of the rock band My Morning Jacket. They were awesome!

It was a great experience and just the boost I needed to get through this hectic week. I start classes tomorrow - Corporate Finance and Managerial Communications. Fun, fun, fun. Wish me luck!

P.S. - Betsy's first bridal shower was held last weekend at a vineyard outside of Austin. I will post later this week with details and pictures.

Below are a few pictures from the show last night. Enjoy!

Garrett's Birthday and Lora's Luncheon Weekend!

It was a great weekend to celebrate our sweet Garrett's birthday and Lora's (daughter of my long time friends Beverly and Dennis) bachelorette weekend. I hosted a lunch for Lora and her bridesmaids before they hit Houston nightlife. And the evening was spent with family for Garrett's family birthday party. Kent and I were surprised with this gift from our children of a family blog. I hope my dear friends will enjoy it too. This is my first blog and pictures of today's activities. Check out the cake! I promise I made it!

Well here it goes...

Jeremy and I have lived in Austin for a year and a half. We recently moved in to a condo closer to downtown Austin. We love it! Jeremy proposed to me in January and we are getting married at Vintage Villas in November. I am very excited! I have had a wonderful time planning the wedding.

The wedding planning is coming along very well we have all of the major items decided upon and completed. We are now on to the fun details of the wedding. I have had a wonderful time so far with the time that I have spent with my family and close friends. Everyone has been wonderful and we are looking forward to the big day!

I am almost done with my first semester in graduate school. I am taking classes at St. Edwards University, a private school in Austin. It also where Susan received her undergraduate degree. So far the grades look good! It has been a great experience so far, I am enjoying my professors and classes. I am really learning a lot. It has definitely been an adjustment going back to school.

Jeremy is enjoying first shift at Dell. We have enjoyed the time we get to spend with each other in the evenings. We love cooking dinner together and enjoying the food we prepared at our new kitchen table. It was a very nice wedding gift from Jeremy's dad and Ramona.

We might be joining a kick ball team in August with a few people Jeremy works with. It is a coed team. I think it will be so much fun!

Jeremy and I recently had Ryan and Garrett for the weekend. We had a blast. We went swimming at Hamilton Pool and had a picnic lunch there. The boys enjoyed it! Ryan and Garrett's swimming is awesome. They both are swimming so great. We also played games at the Main Event. Jeremy and Ryan got stuck in a mini roller coaster ride. Ryan said it was the highlight of the trip! Jeremy also won two stuffed animals for Garrett out of a machine. Garrett was thrilled! We had a great time together and cannot wait to have them up again. I think Sharon and Pat enjoyed their weekend as well!

Mom and Dad - I hope that you guys will enjoy this blog. I think it is a great way for us to keep up with one another. I know that we are all going in different directions and I think this will help us stay current and connected with each other. We love you guys! Happy Anniversary!

The Lambright's 1st Blog

We have had a wonderful summer so far!!!

Patrick is enjoying his new job with new and challenging responsibilities at Orizon Industries in Brookshire, Texas. His guilty pleasure continues to be Tuesday night Poker with some neighborhood and old friends from high school. He is pretty good at it so I feel a Louisiana Casino trip coming on. Any takers???

Ryan and Garrett have had an action packed summer so far. In June, we vacationed at our favorite RV campground, Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Waller, TX. We fished, played at the waterpark, fed the animals at the petting zoo and of course made Smores! In July, both boys attended the Hearthstone Golf Camp where both did very well and had a great time. Ryan has been in it for a few summers and scored a 46 after nine holes. Garrett, on the other hand, had a slower start with this being his first year. He scored a 48 after 3 holes. Being that we live on the golf course, we are going to work on that! They had a wonderful time.

We just recently returned from a weekend in Austin. The boys stayed with Aunt Betsy and soon to be Uncle Jeremy and Pat and myself had adult weekend with cousins Amber, Jessica and their husbands BJ and Justin. We celebrated Jess' 30th birthday on 6th street at Pete's Dueling Piano Bar. It was a wonderful night! It has quickly become one of my favorite places and am anxious to return. Lucky for me, Pete's will be moving into Houston 2008!!!!

We are working on getting Ryan ready for Camp!!! He leaves Sunday, July 27th and will be there for a week. Ryan is excited, his mom is anxious. Once he returns it will be a mad dash to get the boys ready for school which starts on August 25th!!

Ryan will be entering 6th grade at Labay Junior High and will be in the Orchestra, learning to play the Bass. His room has been organized so we can move the monster in after school starts. From Ryan's perspective, he is most excited about getting to wear what he wants to school (no more standardized dress) as well as having a locker and getting to walk to class on his own!

Garrett will be entering 2nd grade at Owens Elementary and is a little nervous about not having Ryan at the same school. It will be a small adjustment for him but I think it will help him gain a bit more independence.

We hope this blog finds our friends and family happy and healthy! To mom and daddy, who made this all possible, we love you both and cherish your presence in our life!

Happy Anniversary!

Sharon, Patrick and the boys!

Hello from Austin - Susan

I decided my first post on our family blog should be a "all about me" post. And the words should pour right out of me since most days I walk around thinking that it's "all about me" anyway. :) Since this blog is meant to keep us connected with immediate family and also keep in touch with extended fam and friends, I'll include all the fun details. Here goes...

I work in downtown Austin as Business Development Manager for a hospitality firm. It's a newly created position for our org, so each day brings a new challenge. I am embracing the change and am excited about this new career opportunity!

For the last year, I have been working on pre-requisite courses before beginning my MBA at St. Edwards and hope to start my degree specific classes this fall. Currently, I want to pursue a general MBA with a concentration in Management or Entrepreneurship.

Lately, I've been spending my weekday evenings with friends (since soon all my time will be spent tucked away in the library or coffee shops and I'll have NO life). The weather here is beautiful at night and there are so many fabulous restaurants calling my name that evening happy hours after work are irresistable. Most weekends are spent enjoying the city or traveling to Houston or Round Top to visit family and friends.

In the coming months, much of my free time will be spent helping Betsy plan her November wedding to Jeremy. I am thrilled to be her Maid of Honor and a part of the festivities.

To summarize, happy and healthy!

Love you all!

Susan

P.S. - I recently spent a week in Costa Rica and have included a slideshow of pics from the trip (use the right and left arrows to scan faster). Enjoy!
